Planning Your Maternity Photoshoot: Tips from a London Photographer

Witnessing the wonder: A mother's journey through pregnancy.
Timeless & Emotional Maternity Portraits
Whether you're newly expecting or already feeling those first little kicks, planning your maternity session should feel joyful — never overwhelming. As a London-based pregnancy photographer, I’ve helped many women feel radiant, relaxed, and truly seen in front of the camera.

Here’s everything you need to know to make the experience yours.
Pregnancy is a unique and transformative journey, and maternity photography celebrates this incredible time with intimate, personal, and empowering portraits. Whether it’s your first baby or you’re already a proud parent, this is a moment to honour and remember.

Let’s collaborate to plan a smooth and enjoyable session to create photos that truly represent your radiance.
When to Book Your Maternity Photoshoot
Best Time to Book Your Maternity Photos:
The best time for a maternity shoot is between 28 and 34 weeks. This is when your bump is beautifully rounded, and you’re likely to feel still comfortable.

It's also a wonderful stage for flattering silhouettes and timeless black-and-white portraits.

We recommend booking your session at least 1.5 months before your 28th week to secure your preferred date — especially if you’re considering an outdoor or weekend shoot.

Running Late in Your Third Trimester?

Don’t worry! Stunning maternity photos are still possible even at the end of your pregnancy. Some mums have booked their sessions just days before giving birth — even before heading to the hospital!

Availability can be limited, so it’s best to get in touch early.
Where to Have Your Session — Studio, Home or Outdoors
✓ Studio — clean lines, flattering light, and styled elegance
✓ At Home — cosy, personal, and familiar
✓ Outdoors — beautiful London backdrops, natural light, relaxed vibe

Tip: Choose a setting that reflects how you want to remember this time. We’ll tailor everything around your choice — or mix two settings if you'd like variety.
